A recent report stated that as many as 50% of potential home purchasers are not aware of the financial incentive to close on a home between now and November 30, 2009. This is unfortunate, as many will miss the opportunity to purchase a home at one of the most affordable times in history due to low interest rates and rock bottom home prices.
Although the tax credit itself cannot be used for a downpayment in Indiana, there are loan programs available that provide for 100% financing in certain areas, and other programs for as little as 3.5% down that can be in the form of a gift from a family member.
