I don’t know about you, but I’m a little relieved that Congress did not vote in the $700 BILLION bailout. For me, it’s just too much money in too short of time given to people who may not know how to run a business.
Yes, I know. We need some economic stability, but I don’t think this is the best way to do it. Let’s put them all in a room and tell them no going home to campaign until we have workable and easily understandable results. Let’s hold them accountable to the jobs we have given them, to fairly represent US and do what is going to be in our best interest.
We need the stability a good plan will bring us, but on the other hand, we don’t need to be saddled with that size of debt. And, I don’t like the idea of bailing out those companies that made poor business decisions and found themselves behind the 8-ball. The CEOs of these companies made millions and millions of dollars driving the companies into the poor financial positions they are in now and now they want to be rescued.
Who is going to rescue the little guy who is facing foreclosure or other financial hardships? Is the Fed Chairman or the Treasury Secretary planning to take a walk down Main Street and explain their line of thinking? NO WAY! It’s all about big money getting big money at the expense of the taxpayers.
Wall Street Wants Momma to Bail Them Out.
Let’s see if they come up with any better ideas for the vote later this week. We, on the other hand, need to get out and vote in November. Remember who is supporting us, the taxpayer, and who supports big business at our expense. While everyone seems focused on the McCain / Obama race, there is a lot more at stake than just the presidency.
This was never intended to be a political type post; it just sort of evolved that way. It infuriates me that so many hard working people are losing their jobs, their homes and their pride because our elected officials have their hands in the honey pot of big business who now needs a favor. Our Congress is debating this in back rooms and has no transparancy in what they are doing. They are, in essence, placing themselves above the average blue-collar person they are supposed to represent and parroting Jack Nicholson’s famous line from “A Few Good Men”. “You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth!” because the truth is that we are getting shorted.
